At the end of May 2025, I spent the most wonderful week in France — three days on the Atlantic coast and four in Bordeaux — and I shall treasure every moment of it.
Typhaine devoted herself so generously to me. We shared lovely meals, excellent wines, and worked on my French each day. At seventy-five, I fear I shall never be perfectly bilingual, but thanks to her patience and encouragement, I found the confidence to speak and truly connect with people. That meant the world to me.

I adored the Atlantic coast — the charming houses in Soulac, the lively market at Montalivet, and those unforgettable oysters with a glass of Loupiac before stretching out on the soft, golden sand. We stayed in a beautiful flat overlooking the sea, and even I braved the invigorating seawater pool just opposite. It felt wonderfully energising.
Bordeaux itself was simply radiant — elegant streets, glowing stone buildings, delightful little shops. Typhaine even persuaded me to try snails in a charming restaurant — and I did!
It was a week of beauty, laughter, fine food and genuine warmth. Typhaine has a rare gift and truly cares about her students. I wholeheartedly recommend this French immersion experience in the South West of France — it is enriching, uplifting, and quite unforgettable

We spent an amazing week with Typhaine in Bordeaux. Not only was the quality of instruction exceptional and our French got so much better during this immersive week. She introduced us to the beauties of Bordeaux and the wine region surrounding the city. It was the perfect mix of language and culture. It was such a great time. The apartment was clean and convenient, just besides hers and Typhaine guided us through the entire week. We especially loved the exclusive access to some of the most amazing vineyards in the region. In particular, we were given private tastings by Olivier at Château de Bayles and Marie Pierre at Barsac, who taught us about the biodynamic wine making process. There were many other incredible visits to independent, conscientious vineyards that are doing cutting edge things. And we did it all in FRENCH! I couldn’t believe I understood it all! I am frankly blown away by this French immersion experience. We’re planning on going back for the summer of 2026 to explore the beach and the surf. It was amazing, thank you Typhaine!!
